projects and collaborations
We are working on the final details for the release of not one, but three brand new recording projects!!
First in line is a collaboration with Grammy Award winner pianist-composer-conductor Pablo Ziegler, one of the Greats of New Tango (and part of the legendary Astor Piazzolla Group), but also an amazing jazz pianist and arranger.
Blues Porteño
Love Letters from Buenos Aires
Roberta Gambarini Quartet
For this brand new recording, I have prepared some re-workings of Jazz classics by my favorite composers, from Rahsaan Roland Kirk to Kenny Dorham to Jimmy Heath, plus new vocalese features with special tributes to my beloved mentor James Moody, and of course, a sprinkle of the Great American Songbook.
Dizzy Gillespie All Stars Big Band
Since 2004, I have had the immense honor -and joy!- to sing with the phenomenal Dizzy Gillespie All Stars Big Band, led by long time Gillespie's associate and bass player, Master John Lee. Through the years, most of Dizzy's closest friends and Giants played with this band: James Moody, Frank Wess, Slide Hampton, Claudio Roditi, Mulgrew Miller, Jackie Mc Lean, Roy Hargrove, and so many more.
Symphony Project
It has been my lifelong dream to record with a full symphonic orchestra a program of arrangement expressly created for me. This dream has come true in 2020 when I met the fabulous arranger Duccio Bertini, a Tuscan musical whiz whose arranging and conducting has been praised to the stars by Jazz legend Benny Golson.
Dean Pratt Big Band
This amazing Big Band was the very first ensemble that I got the joy to sing with upon my arrival in New York City in 1999 and to this day, we keep on swinging, recording, and performing! Since its formation in 1980, The Dean Pratt Big Band has backed such musical artists as Fran Warren, Zoot Sims, Al Grey and Roy Eldridge. They have also performed a tribute to the great arranger, Fletcher Henderson, funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
